Cachaca Duo 'Latin Moods' Concert

Cachaca Duo - Belinda Carrigan (violin) and Johannes Dimyadi (guitar) delivered soothing bossa nova, stirring tangos, and a samba or two at The Pah Homestead Sunday 29 January.

Cachaca Duo's CD 'Songs & Dances', will be available for sale at the concert ($3 from each CD goes to Cancer Research Trust).

 

Cachaça (pronounced ka-SHA-sa) is a famous alcoholic beverage of Brazil distilled from sugar cane juice. It is most commonly associated with Brazilian national cocktail Caipirinha, being an essential ingredient of it.

 

Belinda Carrigan graduated with a Master of Music (with distinction) in violin performance from the University of Auckland as well as a Post Graduate Diploma from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, United Kingdom. To complement her academic achievements, she has many years of experience as a freelance performer with various orchestras and chamber ensembles. Apart from performing, Belinda also teaches violin privately and at various schools in Auckland.

Johannes Dimyadi has been playing the violão (nylon-string guitar) since the age of 15, inspired by bossa nova. He combines folk and classical approach in a unique fingerstyle guitar playing that also reflects the multi-ethnic influences of his early years in Indonesia. Johannes has performed professionally since 1990 in New Zealand, Australia and Japan and has written many arrangements and original works for different instruments & orchestrations.
