The Pah Homestead/TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre's Gallery Shop features fine art jewellery, glass, ceramics, design, books, music and stationery. Items for the Gallery Shop are chosen by Manager Denise Batchelor who has an eye for selecting quality design and original pieces. All purchases help the James Wallace Arts Trust with the cost of operating the Pah Homestead, TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre, as well as supporting emerging and established glass, ceramic and jewellery artists, and designers. The Gallery Shop is an excellent place for buying unique New Zealand presents, or for treating yourself, with a selection of products to suit all budgets.

 

Glass Art

The Gallery Shop stocks Art Glass products from artists Nejat Kavvas, Ron Reichs, Graeme Hitchcock, John Penman, Lou Pendergrast-Mathieson and Hoglund Art Glass.

 

Ceramics

The Gallery Shop features ceramic art from artists Graeme Storm, Ken Martin, Jisu Jeon, Merilyn Wiseman, Nadine Spalter, Anneke Borren and ceramicist team Sang Sool Shim and Keum Sun Lee. Ceramics by designers Bob Steiner and Jo Luping are also available.

 

Pounamu; Greenstone

A beautiful array of pounamu is a feature of the Gallery Shop, with handcrafted pieces by greenstone carvers Andrew Hughes of Jade Works, Ernesto Ovalle and Neil Hanna, the later of whom who also works in mother of pearl. Pounamu is a truly New Zealand gift.

 

Jewellery

A stunning selection of handcrafted fine art jewellery in sterling silver, gold and bronze is available from the Gallery Shop. Artists featured include Kiri Schumacher, Nick Feint of Stone Arrow, Francis Kirkham, Ann Ambler. Teressa Allen and emerging jewellery artist Denise Laing.

The Gallery Shop also stocks a selection of design jewellery by designers Ian Blackwell, Helen Kerigan, Tania Tupu and Jill Main.

 

Publications

The Wallace Arts Trust has produced several of its own books and catalogues including the most recent Twenty Years of Winners: The Wallace Art Awards Paramount Winners 1992-2012. If you are interested in stocking any Wallace Arts Trust publications for retail in your own shop, please contact the Gallery Shop for more information.

Publications on Contemporary New Zealand Art by authors such as Hamish Keith, Warwick Brown and Justin Paton are available for purchase from the Gallery Shop, as well as books about the work of artists from the Collection including Philip Trusttum, Len Lye, John Pule, Francis Uprichard, Dick Frizzell, Colin McCahon, Mary McIntyre, Francis Hodgkins, Milan Mrkusich, Peter Siddell and Graham Sydney. The Gallery Shop also stocks reference books on New Zealand cultural artifacts and nature.

 

Music

The Gallery Shop stocks a selection of music and sound art CDs. This includes chamber and orchestral music, sound art by artists Len Lye and Phil Dadson and New Zealand cultural music and stories. Aotearoa Earth and Sky, an audio book of stories of New Zealand's extraordinary landscape is also available for purchase. It can be listened to in English, Maori, Mandarin, Japanese and Korean and is a great gift for overseas visitors.

 

Design Products

A select range of quality design products are available from the Gallery Shop including merino scarfs designed by Jill Main, velvet purses by Tamsin Cooper and Ronald Andreassend's Handtool range. The Gallery Shop also stocks flat-pack kiwiana models by Modeltech, great for sending overseas.

 

Stationery

The Gallery Shop sells notebooks, visual diaries and giftbags/boxes as well as a range of cards that include images from the Wallace Arts Trust Collection, native birds/flora and fauna, and design images.

 

Twenty Years of Winners: The Wallace Art Award Paramount Winners 1992-2011. This catalogue is now available for purchase from the Pah Homestead for $12. It features all the Paramount Award winning works and accompanying commentaries, a Director's foreword and introduction by Sir James Wallace, and details of the judging panels and other prize-winners throughout twenty years of the awards.
